Overview

Agribusiness Australia connects, promotes and adds value to the Australian agribusiness sector, and our membership reflects the diversity of businesses in the sector. We are proud to support the work of our corporate and individual members, our community partners and network, and the Australian community.

Our vision for the future is a growing and thriving sector where individuals, organisations and industries can strive for and reach their full potential.

In short, our specific vision is a $300bn Australian agribusiness sector by 2030.

To achieve our vision we advance the interests of the Australian agribusiness sector through advocacy, promotion and leadership, and we support our members through events, services, and platforms for engagement.

  2. Agribusiness Australia will work collaboratively with the agribusiness sector and key parties outside the sector to achieve growth targets.
  3. Our investments and actions at-all-times lead to an improvement in the natural and human resources of the sector.

A brief history of Agribusiness Australia:

2016  The membership voted to change the constitution to strengthen the association’s capabilities and increase relevance to members. The association was rebranded Agribusiness Australia and a full time CEO appointed.

2015  Mark Allison was elected chair and remains the association’s current chair. The association has had 8 presidents, each bringing their expertise and experience to the role.

2009  The position of Executive Officer was created.  The position’s role was to organise the association’s administration for membership, sponsorship, events and finance with the goal to increase events from 3 to 5 per state each year.

2004  Jack White was awarded the First Life Member honour.

1993  The association held its first conference with over 100 attendees, who in turn became members.

1988  The Agribusiness Association of Australia was established by four university lecturers who saw the need for an agribusiness connection between the universities and industry. Originally it was set up in Canberra with Jack White as the honorary secretary.

Agribusiness Australia’s core values underpin the organisation’s operations to ensure it can deliver against our strategic objectives. Our values and culture are underpinned by Our Integrity – an ethical, respectful and people-centred approach; Our Credibility – we seek and deliver a fact and evidence-based approach; and we Serve the Greater Good – we exist to serve the Australian Agribusiness sector, not individual needs.
